From the desk of the President
Greetings to all,
As your new President, I'd like to a moment to say thank you to all the current and past Board Members. Your hard work and dedication are the key elements in the success of our fine organization. We've had a busy summer season, and fall looks to be busy as well. We will be supporting many downtown activities such as the Wine Walk, Downtown Trick or Treating and of course the Halloween parade. These are just a few of the upcoming events needing your volunteerism, so don't be bashful ask a Board Member how to and where to help. I would like to thank Pat again for his tireless efforts. He is a huge part of River Arts Center and has helped us in many, many ways over the last 50 years. Pat has guided us and has been integral to our success. We know that Pat will continue to volunteer and help for the next 50 years!!! All of our volunteers will help us to grow another 50 years. Your President, Bryon L. Burgess |

...But I like to get messy!!
Then we are still the place to come. We have pottery wheels that are now available. You can purchase pre-weighed bags of clay at one and half lbs. for $5 and wheel use is $7 per hour. Glazing and firing are $5 for each item. Please note, we will only fire clay purchased from us. You must be at least 12 years old to be on a pottery wheel.
Have you ever been interested in learning how to make pottery? When you learn how to do pottery, you have the ability to make your very own kitchenware, your own house decor, and the ability to forever get out of buying gifts because you can hand make something special. Not to mention how relaxing and rewarding it is.
This class will include instruction on the basic understanding of clay. It is a beginner course, but is open to all skill levels. There will be something valuable for everyone. You will have a chance to hand build and wheel throw in this class, as well as getting a chance to use many fun studio tools like the extruder and slab roller.
A beginner 6 week course is $200. A $100 deposit secures your spot. Class starts September 17th, 2023.
Please take a tab and reach out to me if you are interested.

Treasurer’s thoughts
The Treasurer’s job is generally not something to stimulate folks in a newsletter. I just want to let all of the volunteers know how much I appreciate them. We have a new cash register in the Gift Shop & Gallery. We have updated quite a few procedures so that we are more streamlined and consistent across the board. I was not sure how the training of the volunteers would go. I was hoping that no one would run out screaming especially while training on the new cash register… I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know so many of the volunteers while I have been training. So many great backgrounds and life experiences have been shared with me that I feel very honored to learn about all of you. I have learned so much and have been impacted in so many ways by your sharing of your lives and life experiences. My respect for all of you has been enhanced and you all have warmed my heart. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing with me. Thanks for your willingness to learn, your patience with the new processes and for not running away screaming! Nancy

Membership reflections
Most of you know that our Annual Memberships were historically due in November due to the Annual Membership show. Do you know that your membership is for a full year from the month that it is paid? If you paid for a membership in July of 2022 – it is valid until July of 2023. The expiration date is located in the upper right-hand corner of your mailing label. Your membership monies play a huge part in the Clinton Art Association being able to bring fabulous art experiences to the community. We just finished up “Creative Camp”. Both kids and the adults volunteering had a fabulous time. Rainbow Pottery is a great place for kids of all ages to be creative and paint their own items - we have so many different items to choose from too!
We frequently host other youth summer programs.
We frequently host other youth summer programs. Pat had pottery classes where folks were able to create great items on our fabulous pottery wheels upstairs and have their items fired. We had an amazing time hosting a watercoloring class. The Bassment brings folks who love music together for an evening of listening and participation!! The Gift Shop & Gallery give artists that opportunity to get their creations in front of the public. Beautiful created items can be purchased to bring joy to those purchase or receive them as a gift. Deb’s Yoga utilizes our space to bring health and peace to participants. Your membership helps to defray costs and to help us to bring these experiences to folks at a minimal cost or no cost.
Please renew your membership to help us bring more creative art experiences to all..
